Trinity Timber Cycle Shelter Installation Cwrt Pentwmpath, Llay Wrexham

This project formed part of a wider regeneration scheme that transformed the site of a former warden-controlled apartment complex into a modern, energy-efficient community. The development consists of 17 apartments and 8 bungalows, carefully designed to meet living standards while prioritising sustainability and long-term value.

As part of the site’s external amenities, we provided a purpose-built cycle storage facility, designed, supplied and installed to encourage sustainable transport use among residents. The structure is a 16-space Trinity Timber Wooden Bike Shelter measuring 6100mm wide by 3500mm deep and 2100mm high. Built around a robust galvanised steel framework, the shelter offers long-term durability and resistance to the elements, making it well-suited to a residential setting.

The shelter features cladding on all sides using PAR treated timber in a hit-and-miss configuration, providing both visual appeal and natural ventilation. A timber clad single swing gate was incorporated into the design and fitted with a secure digital combination lock, ensuring controlled access while maintaining ease of use for residents. The roof structure was completed with galvanised box profile sheets, complemented by neatly detailed flashings to the front and sides for enhanced weather protection and a clean finish.

Internally, the shelter was fitted with 8 Sheffield Cycle Stands, providing secure, organised parking for up to 16 bicycles. The layout was carefully considered to maximise usability within the available footprint, ensuring convenient access and efficient use of space.

All components were supplied in kit form and assembled on location by our specialist team. Works included installation of the galvanised steel framework and timber cladding, fitting of the roofing and flashings, installation and adjustment of the access gate and locking mechanism and final positioning and fixing of the cycle stands.

This project demonstrates a commitment to quality construction, thoughtful design and sustainable living. The cycle shelter not only complements the architectural character of the development but also supports environmentally conscious travel choices, adding long-term value for residents.

Cycle Shelter Installation Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

We were delighted to support Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with the supply and installation of a 12-space Greasby Cycle Shelter, delivering a secure cycling facility for staff.

The Greasby Cycle Shelter was selected for its visually appealing design, to blend naturally into the projects surrounding footprint, maintaining a professional environment.

The shelter’s clear design ensures that stored bicycles remain in full view of the surrounding area, creating natural surveillance that acts as a strong deterrent to theft. As part of the clients request we prepared the shelter by fitting a duct with internal wiring, ready for an electric Magneto lock system to be installed by the client themselves. The balance between accessibility and protection gives cyclists confidence that their bikes are safe throughout their shift.

Internally, the shelter is equipped with Semi-Vertical Cycle Racks, an efficient solution that maximises bike capacity. This configuration allows 12 bicycles to be stored comfortably while maintaining safe spacing and ease of use.

The completed installation delivers a secure and practical cycle parking solution that supports the hospital’s wider sustainability goals. By providing dedicated, high-quality cycle storage, the new facility actively encourages staff to consider cycling as a viable and reliable commuting option.

This project demonstrates how well-designed infrastructure can positively influence travel behaviour, even within complex and high-traffic environments such as healthcare facilities. The Greasby Cycle Shelter now stands as a visible commitment to sustainable transport at Kettering General Hospital, offering staff a safe and secure place to store their bikes while promoting healthier, greener commuting choices.

We supplied a galvanised steel Merton Mesh cycle shelter with mesh panels on all sides, creating a fully secure enclosure that allows natural surveillance from the surrounding area. This open visibility is a key deterrent to theft.

Access to the shelter is provided through swing mesh front gates fitted with double-sided digital combination locks. This solution ensures secure and convenient entry for authorised users, eliminating the need for keys while allowing controlled access from both sides and is practical for high-frequency daily use.

The structure features galvanised roof sheets, offering reliable weather protection and contributing to the overall durability of the installation. All external metalwork has been powder coated in black, creating a sleek finish and a layer of protection against corrosion.

Internally, the store is fitted with galvanised Semi-Vertical Cycle Racks, designed as a free-standing system to maximise capacity within the footprint. Each rack provides 3-points for locking, giving cyclists added confidence that their bicycles can be secured safely and effectively. This high-security locking arrangement makes the solution suitable for locations where bike protection is a top priority. The cycle store was supplied in kit form for on-site assembly, complete with all required fixings and detailed installation instructions to ensure a straightforward build process.

By combining durable galvanised construction, controlled access, high-visibility mesh panels and efficient semi-vertical racks, this project demonstrates how well-designed cycle infrastructure can enhance security, maximise capacity and encourage cycling by giving users complete confidence in the safety of their bicycles.

Great job done from ordering, advice, delivery and construction. Two man crew worked solidly from 7 am to 1pm, refused all offers of coffee and got the bike shelter built despite high winds and rain. Also dismantled our old bike rack.
